The Smart Border Initiative (SBI), one of the few smart grids among the EU Projects of Common Interest (PCI), participated in the PCI Energy Days on December 3-4th, in Brussels.
The PCI Energy Days is a policy conference and exhibition dedicated to the practical implementation of Projects of Common Interest. It allowed the SBI team to present this ambitious project, aiming at creating the first cross-border smart grid on a distribution level, and to exchange with other project promoters.
During the various conferences discussing how to achieve carbon neutrality in the EU by 2050, the importance of decarbonisation through smart sector integration was highlighted. This approach is at the core of the SBI project, whose architecture includes the use of flexibilities, sector coupling solutions, and valuing synergies between DSOs and communities for an optimal deployment of low carbon mobility.
